I have a confession to make…I have a fear of getting in front of the camera. Whew! There, I said it. This is the part where I should feel a weight lifted off my shoulders but I don’t.
The thing is getting in front of the camera has been my biggest blogging challenge from the get-go. The struggle is real y’all! And I take being camera shy to a whole new level.
I start to stutter, I forget what I’m going to say – even though I have it written down. And if things really get bad I break out in a sweat!
I’ve done a few product reviews for campaigns I have participated in but they weren’t anything to write home about.
All this time I’ve tried to convince myself that I could manage without doing videos. But who am I kidding. I know I’m hurting my business by not going live on social media to tell the world about my services or random blogging tips I want to share with new bloggers.
Going live with your story on social media is hot right now. Authority bloggers like Ryan Biddulph is seriously killing it! And my goal this year is to get in front of the camera starting with live stream on social media.
Here we are in July and I’m still chicken sh*t. But that is about to change my friend!
My friend Donna Merrill released a challenge workshop to help anyone who is ready to use platforms like Facebook Live and turn it into a sizzling marketing tool for their business.
Earlier this month I started the challenge and I’m about to tell you what it’s covered so far.
Before I tell you about the Facebook Live Stream Profits challenge, I just want to disclose that this post is not a sponsored post. There is nothing in it for me but it is my duty as a blogger to share valuable resources with you. And this is one of those valuable resources!
The original plan was to write this blog post after I was done with the challenge but I couldn’t wait for 22 days to tell you about this!
So here I am. 🙂
About Donna’s Facebook Live Stream Profits Challenge
I have taken online courses/challenges in the past but Donna’s course is different.
Not only is she showing us how to use Facebook Live to turn a profit through videos of her own live streams but she talks to you about other topics to help us prepare for our first live stream such as:
- being in the right mindset
- how to get overcome camera shyness
- visualization techniques
- procrastination and how it can affect your growth as a person and in business
- the art of the K.I.S.S. (keeping it short and simple)
Then she really gets into it with topics like:
- techniques to focus on the process, not the results
- the benefits of live streaming
- your story and why it’s important to tell it to your audience
- the best way to give an effective CTA (call to action)
Today is day 9 and I just watched today’s video – Being Camera Shy.
Donna talked about this in detail and how to get passed it. She also shared some techniques like how to get the right background setting and how to capture the right lighting.
And she shared some starter tips for those of us who are really camera shy. For instance, if you’re not camera-ready you can speak while you take a video of something else.
Facebook Live Stream Profits – Other Topics
For the rest of the course, Donna dives into the meat of Facebook Live Stream Profits.
Here’s a look at the rest of the topics she talks about:

- how to schedule live streams and a whole lot more!
My Thoughts So Far
I can’t wait to finish this challenge and do my first live stream! I still have cold feet but Donna’s videos have touched on subjects that I can relate to. And you can tell by how she talks to us through video that she really wants us to succeed.
I’m not telling you about Donna’s course because she’s my friend. When I was a newbie blogger, Donna’s blog posts were very helpful and it played a major part in how far I’ve come since then.
And it’s that connection we made that eventually evolved into a friendship – that’s what engaging is all about!
Over To You
You know video isn’t going anywhere and neither is Facebook. And whatever it is that’s holding you – and me – back from joining the millions who are live streaming and profiting from them, this course is likely to cover it.
If there was ever something worth the investment for yourself and your business this would be one of them.
Just in case you missed the introductory offer you can still get this 30-day Facebook Live Stream Profits challenge for less than 30 bucks and trust me from what I’ve watched so far, it is totally worth it!
Now let’s chat. Have you done live streams on Facebook before? How has it helped your business? If not, what is holding you back? Tell me about it in the comments below.
