Everything You Need To Do To Continue To Blog While On Vacation

Everything You Need To Do To Continue To Blog While On Vacation

Disclosure: This post contains an affiliate link. If you decide to try or buy this product I’ll receive a small commish at no cost to you.

We all need a vacation every now and then, and with the holidays around the corner you might be jetting off on vacation for some much needed downtime to relax or to find inspiration or new ideas to help you grow your blog even further.

However, there is just one small issue with going away from home for one or two weeks. You might not be able to blog while you are away. You might be too busy traveling and seeing the sights, or you might not be able to take your laptop with you.

On my last vacay, I took my laptop but there was no internet access so even if I wanted to take some time to check on my blog, I couldn’t.

The thing is as bloggers we all know that we need to blog consistently and regularly. You would think this could cause a big problem for your blog while you are away, right? Well, not necessarily.

In fact, you have a few different options for your blog when you go on vacation. Sure, you could take a hiatus, but you might find that this loses you some of your readership and stops growth for a couple of weeks.

Everything You Need To Do To Continue To Blog While On Vacation

If you plan on taking a vacation soon and not sure if you’re taking your laptop with you, picking one or more of these options I’m about to share with you will serve you and your blog much better.

Publish Older Blot Posts From The Archives

One of the easiest options is to simply post some older posts that are in your archives. Bloggers like to frame this as a retrospective series of some of their best work. These posts might be quite old and might not get as much organic traffic to them anymore.

Reposting them will give any new readers a chance to read them, and will also remind long-term followers about them. You will be able to schedule when these posts are published and shared on social media.

Use social media management tools like my favorite Hootsuite* that has an autoschedule feature. This will make it much easier to post and that it’s published during the best time of the day to get your content in front of your readers.

Blog On The Go

Some bloggers try to incorporate their travels into their blog posts. Of course, this will work really well if you are a travel or lifestyle blogger. It may not work too well if you blog about something completely different, such as food or blogging!

So, you might want to really think about whether this option is best for you. And don’t worry – it doesn’t mean you need to take your laptop with you.

If you store some posts on a service like EasyNET Solutions Virtual Office, you just need to log in from any computer to access your blog’s posts and data. You’ll also be able to store photos from your trip on the network.  Then once you are home you can access them to edit them before you publish any on social media.

Invite Bloggers To Write A Guest Post

If you don’t think you will have any time at all to work on your blog while you are away, it doesn’t mean you need to go on a hiatus.

Why not think about handing over the reins to a guest blogger while you’re away? You could even involve a few different bloggers. This helps to give your audience a different voice to your posts as well. And it’s also a great opportunity to strike up some collaborations.

Wrapping It Up

Going on holiday doesn’t have to disrupt your blogging schedule. Just use one or all of the ideas above to keep things on a roll!

If you’re planning a vacation soon what are some of the things you plan to do to keep your blog out in the socialverse? Tell me about it in the comments below.

And before you go, I would appreciate it if you would share this post on social media so that other bloggers planning a getaway will know about these suggestions for their blog, thanks!

Here’s to a stress-free vacation!

    Hi Cori,

This is a great one for sure, yes, it is. My take here is to publish old posts from the Achieve. I love this part because the knowledge you had when you wrote that post is not at the same level now that you want to visit the article and republish it. You have more meaningful content to add that will add value to your readers. You can now see clearly what doesn’t work and replace with what’s working at the moment. In fact, publishing old post will help you create a more in-depth and well researched content to attract new readers to your site.

      Hi Moss,

You are so right all the way around! 🙂 And you bring up a great point about publishing old posts and the level of our knowledge when we update the content. Lord knows I was wet behind the ears so updating my older content is an absolute must, lol. 🙂

Thanks so much for coming by to share your thoughts with us! I hope you’re having a great day. 🙂

Vacations are great for health and make our social life to feel better and fresh. In blogger life, even though they are on a vacation they probably feel tense about leaving the blog. I would say vacation is the time for a blogger for free time and recharge their batteries, that is the time to research and relax. Thanks for the guidance
