A lot of bloggers – myself included – promote products through affiliate marketing as a way to monetize a blog. It can be as easy as placing a banner ad anywhere on your blog. Or you can go all out and write a great blog post about your favorite products.
First, you have to find the right kind of products to promote.
Now if you’re a lifestyle, foodie or fashion blogger, you won’t have a problem finding a product or store to promote.
But for a blog niche blogger, there aren’t as many products to promote but there are some.
The thing is, you can’t just promote any product and expect your audience to take action because you’ve got an ad on your website or have written a post about it. You have to promote the products that your readers have a need for.
If you’re a blog niche blogger, you can’t promote skin care products – it doesn’t jive, you know what I mean?
I’ll get into more about promoting products later in this post. But first, let me show you the best affiliate networks and merchants for bloggers who blog about blogging.
The Best Affiliate Programs Bloggers
There are hundreds of affiliate networks you can join. But it’s hard to find an affiliate network that has the right products to promote when you blog about blogging. It’s not as popular as lifestyle and fashion niches but there are some products you can promote.
Here is a list of affiliates networks I’ve joined that has blog-related products you can promote to your audience.
I joined Commission Junction when I first started blogging. Remember when I told you I wasn’t getting approved for sponsored campaigns because I jumped the gun my first year? Well, CJ was one of those platforms I couldn’t get approved for products to promote.
I signed back up with CJ because Hootsuite* was one of their merchants and you know how I love me some Hootsuite!
Anyway, I found other products you can promote besides the Hoot.
CJ offers several tools available to maximize your earnings.
For example, you can create widgets in case you want to promote multiple products.
They also have a PayPerCall program so you can promote advertiser’s offers by way of trackable toll-free numbers. With PayPerCall you get paid for calls you’re already driving. You can expand promotional offers, promote more products offline and online and earn higher commissions.
And if your blog gets 10k pageviews or more, you can join CJ’s Content Certified Program. Watch this video below that explains the program:
ShareASale* was another network that has a great list of products for bloggers to promote. I found more products for blog niche bloggers here than I have any other affiliate network.
You can choose from popular merchants like the ones I’m promoting:
ShareASale also has tools to max out your earnings. The video creative program lets you upload your product review of the merchants you’re promoting.
You can also create a page to display products in a gallery format for your blog post or page.
And they also have a PayPerCall that works like the program on commission junction.
The Amazon Associates program is another great affiliate for blog niche bloggers. I don’t have to tell you Amazon has just about everything under the sun so finding a product to promote shouldn’t be hard at all.
You can promote eBooks, computers, office products, and software…Whatever a blogger needs to run their business efficiently.
The products that have had more conversions are eBooks. But I’m not just promoting any eBook. One of the bloggers I look up to Ryan Biddulph, has written hundreds of Amazon eBooks to help new and struggling bloggers.
The first eBook I purchased from Ryan was 7 Tips for Writing Successful eBooks Quickly: Blogging from Paradise*. Thanks to what he shared I was prepared to write my first eBook instead of staring at a blank word doc with the cursor sitting there because I didn’t know where to begin.
When I found out Ryan had an affiliate program for his eBooks, it was a no brainer that I would promote them.
What am I saying? If you have a mentor who has an affiliate program for products you’ve tried, show them some love by promoting that product to other bloggers.
Linkshare* is another affiliate network I signed up with. The only thing is, Linkshare doesn’t have a big selection of merchants for blog niche bloggers.
I did manage to find a couple of merchants I use. If you use Dreamstime for images or have taken a Udemy course, you can sign up to promote them as well.
And there are other merchants like fotolia, Microsoft and Norton.
Other Affiliate Programs
There are some other merchants who are not part of a network but have their own affiliate program.
Here are some merchants I’m affiliated with. If you’d like to sign up for their affiliate program too, just scroll down to the bottom of their web page and search for an affiliate or publisher link.

Rules For Picking Products To Promote
There are thousands of merchants you can promote. But when it comes to picking out merchants, there are some things you should keep in mind.
Make sure their products are relevant to your niche. If you’re promoting products your audience doesn’t need or want, you won’t get a response from them.
Or ask yourself, would I use this product?
But the best way to pick a product to promote is if you use or have used the product yourself.

How To Promote Affiliate Products
Now let’s go over some ways to promote affiliate products.
There are all kinds of ways to promote affiliate products. You already know you can place a banner ad on your website but there are other ways that can be more effective than just a banner ad.
You can write a blog post and write an in-depth review about a product and talk about how the product became a part your arsenal of blogging tools. Share how the product helped you and how it can help your readers.
And last but not least, talk about what you like about it and what you dislike about it. A reader will appreciate the negative about a product as much as the positive.
You can also promote affiliate products by creating a resource page for your blog.
Create a video tutorial on how to use an affiliate product or do a vlog review about it.
Include it in a “my favorite” or “best of” blog post.
And last but not least, you can also promote affiliate products to your subscribers.
Wrapping Things Up
So there you have it. Those are the affiliate networks and merchants I signed up with to promote their products.
I’m ready to chat! Are you promoting any of the products here? What products are you promoting and how do you promote them? Tells me about it in the comments below.
Before you go, please share this post with other bloggers who may be looking for products like these to promote on their blog.
