But first…
7 Kinds Of Marketing Strategies – The Infographic
I put this infographic together to give you a quick snapshot of the 7 kinds of marketing strategies and what they mean.
A Breakdown Of The 7 Marketing Strategies
Now that you know what the 7 marketing strategies and what they mean, let me breakdown ‘um down for you.
Email Marketing
Email is an inexpensive marketing strategy compared to other tactics. There are many benefits to having one too. For example:
- You build relationships with your subscribers.
- Promote your products or services.
- Drive traffic to your website.
- It can increase sales.
- You can hype up promotions and special offers.
There are plenty more and LYFE Marketing has 25 more benefits of email marketing for you if you’re still not convinced.
Now if you want to run a kick-ass email marketing campaign make sure it includes the following:
- Start with a freebie such as a download, printable or eBook that offers value to your audience
- Create a form or landing page to promote your mailing list
- Content that is relevant to your audience
- A consistent schedule to send emails
- Welcome email that introduces yourself, what you will be sharing in your newsletters and a chance to engage by asking an open-ended question like “what are your biggest challenges as a blogger?”

Content Marketing
Content marketing is taking relevant content and presenting it in different formats like video, blog posts, social media posts and infographics.
I don’t have to tell you about blog posts and social media posts so let’s go straight to video.
If you’re camera shy like I am, don’t let that stop you from creating videos. Check out Lumen5 to instantly create free videos of your content.
All you do is start with either a link or some text or pick from a list of blog posts.
Then select a format (the free version only gives you the landscape format), click on a theme then watch the magic happen! Lumen5 pulls content from your blog posts and adds an image to go with it. Their editor button lets you change the text and media. And you can add music to your video as well!
Check out the video for my last post How To Make Time For Your Virtual Assistant Business. I didn’t edit any images or content. The only thing I did was add music. I just wanted you to see how cool it is!
Infographics are another cool form of content marketing. Canva has awesome templates – like the one I used for the infographic above. There are other free infographic makers like Piktochart and Visme.
Social Media Marketing
I don’t have to tell you what social media marketing is. But it’s not just about posting an image and saying something about it.
You’ve got to have the right image, say the right thing and post it when your audience is most engaged on social media.
If you’re not savvy with creating images, PromoRepublic has thousands of premade templates. There are quote templates, posts to spark engaging conversations with your peeps, and promotional templates to boost your business.
And every week new templates are uploaded so you’ll never run out of fresh content!
Mobile Marketing
People are spending more time on their mobile device so it’s a no-brainer to want your business to be visible on mobile devices.
Wordstream wrote an informative article about why you need a mobile marketing strategy. There are some VERY interesting stats that, if you have not marketed to mobile users, you will want to start – like now.
They also shared the different types of mobile marketing strategies to get your brand out there.
Here are a couple examples.
App-based marketing. This is a form of mobile advertising that involves mobile apps. Services like Google AdMob helps you create mobile ads that appear within third-party apps.
Another one is mobile image ads. These are image-based ads that appear on mobile devices.
Online Marketing
When you see the term online marketing, the first thing to come to mind is email and social media.
But there are some other forms of online marketing such as webinars. Webinars are used to attract your target audience and can be a lead generator for your product.
I haven’t done webinars but Social Media Examiner put a great article together that shows you how to market and sell your product using webinars.
Video Marketing
Video marketing is one of the best ways to get your product out there. And big and small brands are jumping on the video marketing bandwagon. They’re creating videos and ad campaigns to drive their message home to their target audience ranging from funny to heartwarming.
Like this one by Dollar Shave Club.
Hubspot has 17 video marketing and advertising campaigns that you’ve probably seen.
Digital Marketing
When you see ‘digital marketing’ they’re referring to advertisements done through digital channels like websites, social media and email.
If you’re asking yourself if this is the same as online marketing – it is and it isn’t. There are some common strategies like email and social media marketing but there is a difference.
Marketo explained what digital marketing is and shared examples. One was paid search or pay-per-click advertising, which are the ‘sponsored results’ you see at the top or side of the search engine results page.
And search engine optimization – which is the process of optimizing content and the set-up of your website so that it appears at the top of a search engine results page.
